Songs- Chapter 6

1. " The music of the pearl was triumphant in Kino's head, and the quiet melody of the family underlay it..."-p.69

This relates to the theme songs because the pearl was a powerful force at this point in the book.  In Kino's head, the pearl would change their life, for better or for worst. The song of  family was a peaceful songs at was made of the daily movements of Kino and his family. This relates because, this was when Kino and his family were making their escape from the trackers.

2. " And Kino thrust the pearl back into his clothing, and the music of the pearl became sinister in his ears, and it was interwoven with the music of the pearl"- p. 71

This sentence relates to songs because, when Kino looked into the pearl he saw all of the bad ings that had happened because of the pearl. He saw how he beat Juana becuase she tried to get rid of he pearl, and he saw Coyotito's swollen, feverish face due to the medications. The two songs were interwoven because the pearl was becoming a horrible and evil thing.

3- "Oh, the music of evil sang loud in Kinos head now, it sang with the whine of heat and with the dry ringing of snake rattles."- p.77

This relates to songs because Kino spotted the trackers and he knew what the trackers would do. The ringing of the of the snake rattles could kill the family, the whine of heat could kill the family, and if the trackers found the family, they would kill them them too. So, obviously all three things were evil, very evil.

4- "The family song was alive now and driving Kino down on the darkend enemy."-p. 84-85

This relates to songs because now kino was getting ready to defend his family. "The darkened enemy" is refering to the three trackers. The will to defend him an his family was pushing him down to their sleeping quarters. He was about to spring on the trackers and kill them all. He killed all three of them but one of his own was killed also.

5- "And the music of the pearl drifted to a whiper and disappeared"-p. 90

This relates to songs because the music of the pearl was gone and along with that was the music of evil. This was when Kino and Juana throw the pearl back into the gulf. This pearl caused greed, lies and even death among Kino and his Family.
